How to Create a Personal, Holistic Approach to Skincare

How to Create a Personal, Holistic Approach to Skincare

The word holistic means ‘of the whole rather than as a dissection of pieces’ and relates to many different subject areas.

A holistic approach to medicine and health views the body and mind as one functioning unit and aims to find a cure or resolution by treating not only the problematic symptoms, but also the underlying causes through use of non-invasive techniques. A holistic approach to medicine combines the wellness of physical, spiritual, mental and emotional health.

Great philosophers like Socrates and Hippocrates reported in the 4th century B.C. that treating only problems would not fully rid one of symptoms, but it wasn’t until the beginning of the 20th century that a holistic approach to medicine gained acceptance in Western Medicine.

Even more recently, holistic ideas treating the environment and mankind as one entity have gained popularity and importance.

According to this approach, we, as humans, affect the environment, and the environment affects us. This is evident through desperate news reports urgently expressing that ice covering the Arctic is melting, rainforests are disappearing and coral reefs are being bleached. All of these factors affect our health, and our overall
health shows clearly on our skin.

Here at ObeyYourBody®, we take a positive approach to the relationship between humans and nature, and strive to bring nature’s gifts from the Dead Sea to you in the form of cosmetic products. With our products, we create a holistic approach to caring for skin that combines nature’s most beneficial minerals, vitamins and plant extracts in the form of salts, cleansers, muds, moisturizing creams, serums and dietary supplements.

We encourage each client to use products they need in order to create skin health from the tips of their fingers and toes to the tip of their nose. No two people are alike, and there is nothing more natural than paying attention to your own person needs both for your skin and for your life.

The ObeyYourBody® common sense approach to skin and life health considers both inner and outer physical necessities that contribute to healthy looking skin. The skin’s general aesthetic condition is not simply a matter of growing older through the years, but rather the result of natural, biological processes best maintained through a healthy, well-balanced lifestyle that include:

           1. Moderate and ‘relaxed’ physical activity as recommended by your physician
          2. Avoidance of excessive exposure to the sun, especially on unprotected

areas of skin; Protection against UV Rays through use of creams containing
SPF when this cannot be avoided
         3. Limiting use of stimulants such as alcohol and tobacco
         4. Proper care of skin including the use of cleansing products to optimize your

body’s natural process of cell renewal.
         5. A sensible and well-balanced diet that may include dietary supplements.
